Kayaking in Havelock Island
Famous for Bioluminescence is one of the most stunning wonders of the world. The blue-tinted glow underwater is the cause of specific phytoplankton, that moves inside the water, and glows at night. There are specific points in Andaman where they are visible and Havelock Island’s mangrove forest is one of the best places to see it. The experience begins near the shoreline during sunset, where you are given all the necessary instructions and soon you will head out to the sea. All lightings are turned off soon, and the glow inside the water will be visible due to bioluminescence, as you paddle through the lagoon and the ocean. The whole trip lasts for about 3 hours, after which the planktons stop glowing. The glow of bioluminescence depends on the moon’s phase and departure time for this Kayaking trip is based on the specific sunset time of the day.
Things To Note
Bioluminescence Experience is like the sky is on earth with stars twinkling while you kayak. At most times, the night kayaking starts post-sunset when the tide is high in Havelock. The peak time for bioluminescence is from November to February.
Now, this tour takes place at Havelock Island. The initial training begins near Havelock Island Jetty where you are made familiarized with how to use a kayak. Post your training and familiarization we begin our journey on a kayak to explore the rich diversity of the Mangroves at Havelock Island. The tour takes place for around 2.5 hours, and the best part is that you require no prior experience of paddling. You just need a strong arm to paddle for a long time.
During the kayak experience, we paddle till the mangrove forest at night. If you are coming during the winters then we take our kayaks to the shores where bioluminescence at Havelock can be seen properly. Witnessing bioluminescence is on luck and we cannot guarantee a show every time. Though we try our best to help you witness this natural phenomenon.Highlights
